Till the last few years NASCAR was heavily criticized for its low safety precautions. In all other racing
series the safety measures were mandatory while in NASCAR many of them were only optional. After the
death of one of the most popular dirvers Dale Earnhardt in 2001 on the last lap of Daytona 500 safety became
a priority. With the help of new technologies engineers are trying to make this even as safe as possible and
nevertheless thrilling as it has always been. There were many changes make as we start from the seats and
continue through the seat belts, roof flaps. After the year 2000 most of the tracks changed their walls with
softer materials instead of concrete. There are many speed restrictions on the different areas of the track
as well.
At nowa days the safety in NASCAR has walked a long way since the first green flag was dropped. Still
NASCAR racing is not among the safest car racec. After all they are spending a lot of time, money and
resources to maintain comparatively high level of safety. Click to see another stunning crash! |
